Still Doubt?

So does anyone still want to argue with me that Kid Rock is not completely full of crap with his “I’m all Detroit” bulls*@!…

He’s such a phony. Above is a photo of him hoisting the Stanley Cup in Chicago after a Blackhawk handed it to him. Kid Rock was the opening act for Bon Jovi in Chicago.

Here’s what I think of Kid Rock..

Red Wings deserve ‘credit’

May 17, 2010

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press wrote a nice piece detailing why the Red Wings deserve credit this year.

For the past five seasons, all 30 teams have had the same limit on how much could be spent on putting together a contender. In that same span, three clubs — that’s 10% of the league — have managed to forge teams that made the playoffs every year.

Detroit is one of those. San Jose and New Jersey are the others. The Wings are the only ones in the group within those five years to have won a Stanley Cup (in 2008) and then return to the finals the following spring. In contrast, this is the first year the Sharks have made it out of the second round. The Devils made it to the second round in ’06 and ’07 and since have exited in the first round every year.

Cinderella forgot something…

April 17, 2010

…she’s playing the greatest franchise in professional sports.

After falling in Game one of the West Conference quarterfinals, the Detroit Red Wings responded in dramatic fashion tonight, beating the Phoenix Coyotes 7-4.

Valtteri Filppula scored twice, and Henrik Zetterberg added a hat trick in a Wings’ victory that highlighted the danger of this team.

On a night where Jimmy Howard was peppered, and allowed 4 goals, the Wings big guns responded.  Pavel Datsyuk scored, Filppula scored twice, Z three times, and Justin Abdelkader once.  They responded, they rushed the net, and they showed they are ALWAYS for real.

Freep: Babcock wants more out of 3rd, 4th lines

April 16, 2010

Coach Mike Babcock reissued his challenge to the Detroit Red Wings’ bottom six forwards this morning at Jobing.com Arena, where the Wings hope to level their first-round series against the Coyotes in Game 2 tonight.

Babcock has made a small change to the third and fourth lines, putting Dan Cleary with Darren Helm and Drew Miller, and using Justin Abdelkader between Kris Draper and Patrick Eaves.

“What we thought is, our bottom six forwards in the game last game had no physical play,” Babcock said. “They had no grind time, weren’t hard enough on their defense. To me, we’ve got to be harder on their defense. So there’s a number of things we’ve got to do: We’ve got to get through the middle of the ice quicker, but we’ve got to be harder to play against. Abby is a big, heavy guy, and we’d like to bang some bodies, if we possibly can, in their zone.
