The Detroit Red Wings dominated Game 7 in Phoenix on Tuesday, topping the Coyotes 6-1.
Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom both scored twice, as the Wings bombarded Coyotes goalie Illya Bryzgalov with 50 shots. Phoenix managed 33.
The lone goal for the Coyotes came off the stick of Vernon Fiddler who got a fortunate bounce off a face off in the Wings zone in which Jimmy Howard was screened. Outside of that, Howard was brilliant.
The key to the game was a 5 on 3 power play for the Coyotes at the end of the second period. At the time, the Wings were up 3-1, and a goal there may have turned the momentum of the game. Didn’t happen. Jimmy Howard came up big, and the defense played their hearts out.
