Jeremy Bonderman continued the roll of strong starting pitching, as the Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 4-2 at Comerica today.
Bonderman gave up only one hit and one run over 5 innings, striking out 5 in the process. The righty is looking to bounce back after two straight injury-shortened seasons, in which he pitched a total of 81.2 innings.
Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run homerun in the 1st, but the real story was the pitching.
With runners on first and second and 1 out in the 8th, Ni struck out Travis Hafner. Jim Leyland pulled the lefty and brought in Perry to face the right-handed hitting Johnny Peralta, and Perry struck him out.
The Tigers’ team ERA is now just 2.54 on the year… a stat that should make fans across the Detroit-Metro area optimistic for another great summer.
