Tonight, for the first time in 2010, the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers will face each other to begin a 3-game series.

Tigers win, Guillen to DL

Justin Verlander labored, to say the least, through his five innings tonight en route to a 5-4 Detroit Tigers victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

The biggest news tonight was an injury to Carlos Guillen.  Rounding third base, Guillen took a look back to find the ball and inexplicably tripped, fell and was ultimately tagged out.  Dave Dombrowski confirmed at left hamstring strain, which will send Guillen to the 15-day disabled list.

The Tigers have called Brennan Boesch up to the big leagues in lieu of Guillen’s absence.

The Lions have selected Jahvid Best (RB, Cal) with the 30th pick in the NFL Draft.

The Lions sent picks 34 (2nd round), 100 (4th round), and 214 (7th round) for the Vikings 30th pick and 128th pick (4th round).
