Dontrelle in rotation, media plays mind games

Dontrelle Willis might have been named the Tigers’ No. 3 starter Tuesday, but if the 28-year-old left-hander wants to remain in Detroit’s rotation, he still has much to prove in only a limited amount of starts, according to ESPN 96.1 – FM’s Ryan Terpstra.

Willis has won only one game over two seasons while battling injuries and might only have a handful of starts to prove his worth in the Tigers’ starting rotation. Otherwise, Terpstra said Armando Galarraga, who was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on March 18, or right-handed long reliever Eddie Bonine would step in as the two-time All-Star’s replacement in the rotation.
