Wings on Tear

The NHL should be doing more to hype the rivalry between the Wings and Penguins (See ESPN handbook on “Hype”). The Wings 3-1 victory tonight over the Pens gives them a 4 point lead for the 8th seed in the Western conference, and puts them only 1 point back of Colorado for 7th. Henrik Zetterberg scored twice and was involved in a skirmish at the end of the game with Pens captain and superstar Sidney Crosby, in which Jimmy Howard found himself involved as well. (see video above).  Crosby cross-checked Zetterberg at the final buzzer, and the Wings’ Todd Bertuzzi and Jimmy Howard didn’t take kindly.

Said Howard, “He does that stuff all the time. Somehow he gets away with it. Z doesn’t take any of that. He went right back at him, and I stepped in there, too.’’ (MLive).

Great for hockey, more importantly, big win for the boys in red.
